There are several other options for winter sports in California, including Snow Boarding, Ice Skating, Snow Tubing, Snow Climbing and even Sleigh Riding. Some parks and private places even offer Dog Sledding.Winter is also a great time of year to bundle up and take a horseback ride and see the difference between the seasons from horseback.
Some of the winter sports that are not snow or ski related are rock climbing, swimming, mountain biking, camping and if your into whale watching, the prime season in San Diego for the gray whale is December to April.
Obviously the sports that you are going to partake in depends on the area of California that you are visiting. Some of the more higher altitude areas offer better skiing and activities where as some of the areas that have a warmer climate year round will offer more activities not revolving around snow although a lot of resorts now machines that make snow when there isn’t much snowfall.
There are many parks and resorts throughout the state of California that offer lots of winter activites and if your wanting to try something new this winter or freshen up some old skills, most places offer lessons and the rental of the equipment needed for whatever activity you are wanting to participate in.
